コンビニエンスストアで働くための在留資格というものは、現状ありませんでして、だいたいのレジまわりの外国人スタッフはおそらく留学生だと思います。

コンビニでもアルバイト人材が不足しているので、今回の入管法改正ではなんとかコンビニ業界も特定技能ビザの対象となるように望んでいた経営者も多いでしょう。

コンビニで働く外国人というのは、日本語能力も相当高いエリート留学生らしく、留学生の中ではコンビニで働いてるということが一つのステータスになるようなことらしいんですが、留学というのはあくまでも学びに来ているわけで、例外的にアルバイトをしてもいいよ、という週28時間の資格外活動許可の範囲内で働くしかないんですが、特定技能の職種に加えられれば週40時間フルタイム勤務が可能ですし、コンビニオーナーさんにとっては朗報でしょう。
